Hello, this item is a decorative rug in the style of traditional Caucasian or Anatolian geometric carpets, characterized by the bold red field, stepped diamond medallions, stylized tribal motifs, and repeating geometric borders. Rugs of this visual type draw inspiration from historic tribal weaving traditions from regions such as the Caucasus, eastern Turkey, and parts of northwest Iran. However the even coloration, consistent pattern repetition, and overall construction visible in the photographs suggest a modern machine made or workshop produced rug rather than a hand knotted tribal carpet. The black fringe and synthetic looking backing visible at the edge further support a later twentieth century decorative production intended for general home furnishing.
From a market standpoint, rugs of this type are widely produced for the decorative market and are commonly sold through furniture stores and large rug retailers. While the design references traditional tribal weaving styles, the modern production method means the value is based primarily on size, condition, and decorative appeal rather than collectible textile value. A rug measuring approximately 6 x 9 feet in good condition typically sells in the secondary market between $100 and $300 USD depending on material and wear. Based on the photographs and the stated dimensions, a reasonable current market value would likely fall around $150 to $250 USD.
I can send more pictures if needed
Hello Nathan,
Thank you for your message, I appreciate you taking the time to clarify and I understand your concern. Based on your feedback, especially regarding the absence of a backing and the presence of tight hand tied knots, it is possible that the rug is hand knotted rather than machine made. That distinction is important, as it directly impacts both how the rug is classified and how it is valued. From the initial photographs, the construction details were not fully visible, which led to a more conservative assessment focused on common decorative market examples.
If you are able to share additional close up images of the back of the rug, the knot structure, the fringe attachment, and any areas showing wear or pile detail, I can reassess the piece more accurately. If the rug is confirmed to be hand knotted wool, its value may indeed be higher depending on origin, knot density, and overall craftsmanship. I am happy to review this again with better visual evidence to provide you with a more precise and fair valuation.
Thank you
