Kia the teapot is approx 10 cm tall with lid weight is 1543.0 GM
Kia Ora for the purpose of introduction my name is Kim August and currently reside in Omaio East Coast NZ Myself and my partner are currently in the process of cleaning out my partners homestead and have come across a Ivory Teapot (i did the ivory test with the hot pin) and to our surprise it didnt make at all so I did it 4 more times to check and nope no marks. I have contacted Napier Antiques and they have seen the photos etc and has asked me to hold off till there dealers are back in store on the 29th August. Just thought I would ask around other places before committing. I have attached for your perusal, we are renovationg my partners homestead which was left to him so if there is some value in the tea pot we will use towards renovations on the house π Have a great day and I look forward to hearing from you Kim August and Te Teira
Dear Kim,
Thank you for your request. This is a teapot made out of carved alabaster stone. The teapot has a round shape and a decorated muzzle and lid. Alabaster is a very soft stone which is geologically defined as a gypsum stone. The characteristic to be easily handled and the aesthetic aspect of this semi-transparent stone make it very convenient for carvings like this. This teapot was made in the second half of the 20th century.
An estimation would be between 20 to 40 AUD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With best regards,
Georg
