4 jade or other material, maybe Afghanistan nephrite hand carved spheres. It looks like they were strung. together by an unknown material inside the spheres. They measure 2 in in diameter and maybe 10 oz per sphere. You can just refund me since I bought the appraisal February 9th. I don’t think they’re jade or anything special

Hello Molly,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, material and the colours, I concluded that this is a lot of carved pomegranade table decoration made of marble. Dating back to the period between 1970-1990. This marble type was very famous to be used in decorative items of Asian origin at the last quarter of the 20th century. This is a very heavy material and was used in vases, figurines and even wine glasses. The peculiar material that can be seen under and on top of each piece is likely a fiber material with a metallic feeling to enhance the decoration of the piece as a depiction of a pomegranade. These carved Nature Mort compositions were quite famous starting from the mid 20th century. These material were used to make different fruits and theyw ere eventually placed in a marble fruit basket. Pomegranades represents the wealth in many cultures and thought to be as the bringer of the wealth in many others. Therefore these were market as souvenirs and gifts. The different signes on the marble are just the natural stone veins of the material and not made by the artist. Carved minimally. This lot is in good condition without any visible faults
