The drawing is not damaged and comes with a document confirming its authenticity, created by a relatively famous Czech art historian, doctor Jan Stibr.

The Getty Museum's online biography for Czech artist Jan Zrzavy (1890-1977) notes that the painter was influenced by a variety of trends in early 20th century modernism including symbolism, cubism, and fauvism. He registered to study at the School of Decorative Arts in Prague but travelled to Paris the same year. He was expelled from the School of Decorative Arts in 1909. He founded the Sursum group in 1911, and exhibited with them in 1912 at the Municipal Hall in Prague. In 1918 he showed at the premier exhibition of the Tvrdošíjní group (the Stiffnecked). His first solo exhibition took place in 1918, and in 1923 he became a member of the Umělecka beseda.
