What does this mean?

Dear John,

Your bowl is made in Japan in the beginning of the 20th century. Mark say's 'Nippon Iyama' 日本井山 (Iyama, Great Japan) It bears also the Shimazu crest. Your bowl is made of earthenware and is called Satsuma. It is named after the origin Satsuma Province, southern Kyūshū. The Shimazu crest is also a quality indication of the ware. Satsuma ware needs to have great details and therefore fine painted. Your bowl has good details. Satsuma ware quickly looses his value when there is damage. If your bowl is in good condition I believe a price around the above mentioned estimate can be made.
