What does this mean?

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry, and I apologize for the delay. This is a Nambu Type 14 pistol made by the Chigusa branch of the Nagoya Arsenal in Japan. These guns were the first production of Type 14's, and the Chigusa branch only made about 7,800 pistols, so they are considerably rare compared to other Type 14's. According to the date on the pistol, it was made in the third month of the fourth year of the emperor's reign, or March of 1929. This piece is in good original condition, with some light active corrosion present on the metal surfaces, and some more severe rust and damage to the nickel-plating on the magazines. The holster appears to be in good condition and the cleaning rod adds to the value of the ensemble. Given the condition of this piece, and completed auctions of similar items, a fair market estimation is 2,700-2,900 dollars. I would recommend addressing the corrosion, both for the integrity of the piece, and to add to its value for potential sale. Please reach out with any questions.
