Two Japanese Paintings. They are in good codition, they appear to be painted on paper with a silk embroidered background. There seems to be some kind of water damage or marking on one of the silk backgrounds but it is not on the painting itself. Dimensions: Height 19 inches Length 15 inches
My Father purchased it in the late 1970s or early 1980s for £30 or £40 GBP. He told me he bought it from an antique dealer along with a few other items
Hello Charles,
Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. The items presented appear to be two ink and gouache paintings of floral depictions in the Japanese style. Unfortunately, we were unable to decipher the inscriptions, except 氷新, which translates to "new ice." These works are likely decorative works produced for export. The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of other comparable Japanese paintings dating to the mid-20th century, depicting similar images and size. The estimate is contingent on a full condition report. Please note asking or dealer prices may vary. Thank you and please take care.
