Hello John,
Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. The item presented appears to be an ukiyo-e woodblock by Utagawa Hiroshige (Japanese, 歌川 広重, 1797 - 1858), also known as Andō Hiroshige (安藤 広重) titled "Sudden Shower over Shin-Ōhashi bridge and Atake (大はしあたけの夕立, Ōhashi atake no yūdachi)." The print is one of a suite of 119 images titled "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo (in Japanese: 名所江戸百景, romanized: Meisho Edo Hyakkei)," first published in 1856 - 1859. There have been several publishings of the series throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. An in-person examination may determine which publishing this print is from.
The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of this work and other comparable woodblocks from the original publishing of the series. The estimate is contingent on a full condition report and its authenticity. Later publishings may estimate differently. Please note asking or dealer prices may vary. Thank you and please take care.
