Dear Victoria,
The woodblock print or ukiyo-e you bring in is original designed by Utagawa Toyokuni II or Toyoshige. He continued the work of his (adoptive) father with the same name ( Utagawa Toyokuni I ). I believe your print is a later reprint and not printed in his live. It is definitely an antique one made, I believe, in second half 19th century. Many prints were made later so it is quite common to have a later version. Colors of the old one's are little more faded and are different. The metropolitan museum of art has a nice collection. If you use the search button and search for him you find some nice original one's. If you would like to sell I recommend an auction house with a prescription to an online platform like Invaluable, live-auctioneers or other. That way you are sure there is a good international audience for it.
Dear Victoria,
Here's an example of how the back of an original woodblock must look like. See the ink is also visible on the back ( click on the picture of the back in this lot ). Please show the 'naked back' of yours in the light if possible so I can see the back in original way. If this is not possible please let me know.
That is not possible.
There is nothing on the back. It is plain white and printed on poster paper
