The biggest is 9.5 inches wide the qmiddle is 8.5 and the smallest is 7.5. the biggest is 4 inches tall and they get gradually smaller

What does this mean?

Dear Brendan,

These are old Japanese bowl, in fact these are antiques fro late 19th century. Again this is called Kutani ware. You can find some information about it below on Wikipedia.

Its a nice set of bowls and well painted. Chinese market is much better then the Chinese market whom was booming in the 1980ties and 1990 ties. Nevertheless I think if your bowls came to auction they would fetch a price around the estimate I gave above.
