Large Japanese porcelain vase. It measures 58" tall and about 18" wide at it's widest section. I believe the bottom of the vase says "Arita Hizen" and "Hirabayashi"
Previously owned by my father. My Godmother tells me that he once said it used to belong to the Rockefeller estate but I have no way to currently verify that.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be what you suggested, a japanese Arita vase signed "Hirabayashi made". The vase is decorated with a pair of dragons among clouds and possibly a pair of phoenixes. Unfortunately the vase was damaged a long time ago and has been DIY restored. A better restoration would be possibly but would not increase the value. The estimate is based on similar good size japanese vases in similar condition offered or sold at auction. In perfect condition the estimate would be over 1000 USD.
