I am interested in the painting signature written in Japanese. Is this a known artist or an amateur. The painting itself is oil based with a rough texture when you slide your hand across the surface. I will send an image of the painting and an image of the artist signature. The painting size is roughly 36 in x 24 in.
The painting hung in an office in the Pan Am Building in New York City for many years and was given to me as a gift for my office in New Jersey in 1975. I do not know the original owner.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be an offset print after a painting by 黎譜 LE PHO (1907-2001) , with an impressed surface structure or a transparent lacquer which imitates brushstrokes. You will notice the tiny round dots of which the offset prints consists plus the surface structure does not correspond to the "brushstrokes" printed. There is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the item.
Klaus,
Anything further on the first item you noted. Can you get me an interpretation of the Japanese symbol.
Thanks
Denny
