Two vases purchased in Japan in the 1960s. 10 inches tall, 16 inches circumference at the widest part, 4 inch base. Each vase has a black wood stand, not pictured.
My father purchased these two vases on a business trip to Japan in the 1960s.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a pair of japanese Satsuma vases of the 1920s Taisho period, signed at the bottom with two characters of which the upper does not exist. I assume it was intended to write ε ε "collected light". The overall quality of the depicted japanese pasticcio landscape is very detailed and the brushstrokes highly experienced. Such vases were produced for export. The estimate is based on similar vases sold at auction. "Asking prices" in the trade can be higher and vary. There is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to it.
