What I have here is a Joan Miro - Entitled Woman in Front of the Sun. Height: 10.5 inches / Width: 8.5 inches. Material: Aluminum Frame & Glass. Condition: In decent shape there is a dent in the glass on the right hand side of the painting & a scratch on the aluminum frame. I do apologize for the quality of the pictures as I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphone. (Please Note If you have any questions please ask.)
I inherited this from my father before his passing in 2009. My father purchased this in Europe while stationed in Ramstein Air Force Base during the Vietnam War. It was from a private collection in Geneva, Switzerland.
The appraised work is a color lithograph print on paper of an oil painting by Spanish artist Joan Miró (1893-1983) entitled Woman in Front of the Sun painted in 1950 and currently in a private collection. The print features a black abstract figure with a target-like eye centered on a blue ground. Next to the figure is a large red dot, which echoes the concentric circles of the target. Surrounding the figure are whimsical asterisk designs that appear to float against the background. The print bears the artist’s signature in the plate at the lower right. This image is typical of Miró’s oeuvre, which constantly evolved, but tended to routinely feature biomorphic forms, geometric shapes and abstract elements. The estimate provided is based on comparables recently offered and sold at auction. In may cases, pricing for similar examples available on the primary (retail) market vary, and are often higher than secondary (auction) market examples.
