Hi Ken,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Epiphone Les Pauls are official Les Paul models but made outside the U.S., mostly in China or Indonesia, under Gibson's ownership. They’re often seen as budget-friendly alternatives to the much more expensive U.S.-made Gibson Les Pauls. Most other famous guitar designs (like Stratocasters or SGs) aren’t licensed to multiple manufacturers under the same brand family, making Epiphone is a rare official “second line.”
The band Journey holds a significant place in the history of American rock music, especially for their influence on arena rock, power ballads, and popular culture from the late 1970s through the 1980s.
A couple other Gibson Epiphones (of slightly varying vintages but all post 1998, when Perry left) signed by the band have retailed for between $500 and $600; at auction, that translates to a fair-market value of $300-400. It's worth noting that Steve Perry's signature would add a zero to those values.
