Hello, I am interested in finding out about information and the value of this cool old bible. I would be interested in putting it up for auction depending on estimated value. Or if this is not of interest could you please direct me to someone/someplace else? As you’ll see from the pictures, the Bible is in poor condition. (My mom used to play with it as a child). I believe it is passed down through my Mother’s side, from Ireland/England There are several dates inside this King James Bible: 1619(?) 1637. It measures approximately 6” x 4” and contains both old and new testaments. I’ve tried to find images of the same bible, but can’t seem to. Perhaps it’s not as old as I think? I was looking based on 1637/1638/1639 but it may be that pages are missing? Thanks!
Grandmothers family- Ireland? England?
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be what you expected, a later printing inspired by a Robert Young bible. This is very likely a bible printed in Amsterdam by an unknown printer of the 1640s and later. Robert Young was a printer from London but also held an appointment as the King’s Printer for Scotland. The lettering and spelling is quite different from Robert Young bibles. Surprisingly later bibles are very inexpensive today. The bible in your possession has a great patina and history, but moneywise the value is rather modest.
Ok! Thank you! ☺️
