Approximately 14" x 20" Aquatint
A lady had the painting named Carol Fuqua (Euqua) lived in Houston, TX next to my mother. She said her father acquired it when she was around the age of 8. I'm guessing 1940-44. She told that sometime later Picasso had an art expo in Houston in which her father took the painting to and had him sign it. I acquired it from her at Thanksgiving 2014.
Dear Marvin,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be an aquatint or drypoint print on paper with the measurements of 14" x 20". The motif comes from the series with the title "Tauramachia" by Pablo Picasso. This motif is #3 of this series. It appears to be signed by Pablo Picasso by hand but this signature differs from authentic signatures by Picasso.
Works by this artist were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation for an authenticated print with an authentic signature of Pablo Picasso would be between 4.000 to 8.000 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
Because of the differences to ensured works and the high potential value this artwork requires further authentication research. This estimate is provided on the condition of authenticity.
With kind regards,
Georg
