I don't know if it is oil on board or a print of some kind. I can feel the texture on the board of what I think is the paint. Signed Lembke. That's all I know. Hoping you can tell me more.
53.75 inches by 29.75 inches in frame with 47.5 inches by 23.5 inches showing.
Dear Gary Anderson,
This work appears to be an offset lithograph on board after the painting "Mountain Hideaway" by an unknown but listed artist named "Lembke." The work is signed in plate to the lower right. It measures 53.75 x 29.75 inches in frame and has slight abrasions to the top left corner. There is additional staining to the verso of the frame. The board includes textured varnish to its surface to give the illusion of paint which is a common practice in commercial printmaking for works such as these.
Although little is known of the artist, the composition is similar to German landscape painting. Other reproductions of the same work have appeared on the market, and their status as print reproductions lessens their value. The lack of information about the artist and original painting also contributes to a lower value estimate. For these reasons, we estimate the Fair Market Value of this work between $0 and $200.
Kind regards,
Charlotte B.
