This piece shares elements characteristic of seating furniture made in the Victorian period (rough 1850-70) and the Rococo Revival (1870-85), so is considered transitional. The scholarship on Maryland furniture from this period isn't very extensive but given it's history, it's quite possible this was made in Maryland or Baltimore.
While this is reported to have been refurbished around 1911, it's current condition is fairly poor though it retains its original horsehair stuffing. Given the current market and condition, this sofa has a fair-market value of $200-400.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique transitional Victorian/Rococo Revival style walnut veneered sofa
American, possibly Baltimore, probably 1870s
With pierced acanthus decorated crest and rounded back over partially-upholstered arms, the front rail shaped with with an applied acanthus decoration, on short cabriole legs terminating in casters. The back and seat in an embossed dark blue velvet.
42 inches overall height, 62 inches long, 30 inches deep
CONDITION: Apparently refurbished circa 1910 but retains original horsehair stuffing. Minor splits to veneers visible.
