Oil painting
Parents had since 50s/60s
Dear Steve,
Greetings and thank you for submitting images of this painting by the workshop of Lee Reynolds (c. 1936, American). Your parents likely purchased this oil on canvas painting new, from a fine furniture store.. allow me to tell you a little history...
Reynolds owned and operated Vanguard Studios which employed a large group of artists who made decorative artwork, all were signed Lee or Lee Reynolds, this was his trademark name but none were actually done by Lee Reynolds Burr (his works are signed using his full name).
Vanguard Studios created thousands of paintings in numerous styles and today many are sold at auction and valued for their decorative qualities, just as Burr had intended. Similar 'Lee Reynolds' pieces have sold at auction between $30USD and $100USD.
Thank you for taking the time to submit this interesting piece of artistic history to Mearto. If you have any follow-up questions please let me know.
Sincerely,
Erin-Marie
