Hello James,
Thank you very much for submitting your item for an online appraisal.
As you've already noted, this is a chromolithographic print copyrighted in 1897 by J. Hoover and Sons. This was a well-known firm that helped to popularize print collecting in many American homes. According to a antique prints blog, "By the end of the century, Hoover firm was one of the largest print publishers in the county, with an average annual production of between 600,000 to 700,000 pictures.
This means that there are still thousands of them on the market and though they don't appear at large auctions, they often pop up at smaller regional auctions or in the hands of antique dealers.
Your piece appears to be in good condition and I think that it could achieve between $100 and 200 USD at auction, however retail and asking prices may vary. I've seen them listed on eBay for upwards of $400 and I would encourage you to consider popular online auction sites like this one: www.mearto.com/catawiki if you're interested in selling.
If you have any questions, please let me know in the comments section below. Thank you again and have a great day!
Kind regards,
Anne
