Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry, and I apologize for the delay. This is a London Armoury Pattern 1853 musket. The London Armoury Co. (1856-1866) was a British manufacturer that made muskets for the British War Department, and also for export to the Confederacy during the American Civil War. This example was likely exported to the Confederacy, and would have been imported and passed the Union blockade to make it into service with the Confederacy. These rifles were highly regarded by the soldiers that used them. This particular piece is in overall good condition. Most of its original finish has been replaced by a dark patina, but it is relatively stable. The stock and accessories all appear to be intact, and exhibit no significant damage. Given the condition of this piece, and completed auctions of similar items, a fair market estimation is 2,800-3,000 dollars. Please reach out with any questions.

Hello,
I did not see any Italian markings on this gun, are there any that you found? It does not appear to be a replica. The patina and general wear of this gun is consistent with a genuine antique from the 1860s, as well as the construction and markings. Please let me know if you find any markings that would indicate otherwise, or any additional information. Thank you!

I was told this is a replica from a now defunct Italian company and will only sell for 500-700?
