It is approximately 9 inches tall, 13 1/2 inches wide and 6 1/2 inches deep on the bottom. I assume it is leather.
This was a gift to my mom from one of my dad's patients over 20 years ago we think. She was told it was used on the runway in New York. She has never used it. It has sat on the top shelf in her closet since it was given to her.
Good morning, Sheryl,
Thank you for submitting your appraisal inquiry to Mearto. Based on the photographs and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A Woman's Louis Vuitton Monogram Leather handbag
circa 1980s
single compartment, includes all accessories
9 inches tall, 13 1/2 inches wide and 6 1/2 inches deep on the bottom
in unused like-new condition, with original fabric cover (lacking box)
$500-800
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you for using Mearto.
Sheryl,
That tag does look suspicious to me. I will amend the value to $50-75 and mark this as a fake. Was that tag also in the wallet?
No, the wallet only has a stamp on the card that is in it (V8001), and no tag or number on the wallet itself that I can find. You don't know of any purse authenticators in the Cleveland/Akron Ohio area that I could take them to do you?
A Louis Vuitton vendor might be able to look at it and say for sure. Other than that, I am not sure...
Thanks for all your help! :)
I just added another image of a tag I found inside the bag with a number on it. Could you tell me if this tag would belong in a real Louis Vuitton handbag from this time period, or if this might be a sign of a fake one? We were pretty certain this was a real LV bag because of who gave it to my mom, but I can't find anything online where a tag looks like this.
Thanks,
Sheryl
