This is a Limited Edition #36/300 of a nude female reclining on a sofa. The print is hand-signed but unfortunately I can not make out the name of the artist (please see pictures included in the appraisal request - I am hoping you can identify the artist signature) The year is included after the signature, which is 81. The print measures 34.25" inches tall/high (no border) and 25.25" wide/long (no border) The print is in good condition.
I brought it at a local antiques fair about 7 years ago.
The appraised work is a color lithograph of a painting entitled Cheryl in Dark Stockings by American artist Wayne Ensrud (b. 1934). He was born in Minnesota and received a BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Ensrud is known primarily as a painter and printmaker, but he was also the youngest Art Director for the Department of Motion Pictures and Television for the University of California. He has participated in over 60 group and solo exhibitions across the United States, Europe and Asia, and his artwork is in public and private collections domestic and abroad. The estimate provided is based on comparable examples recently offered and sold at auction. In many cases, pricing for similar works available on the primary (retail) market vary, and are often higher than secondary (auction) market examples.
