1 litre bottle of Macallan Scotch Whisky
3.5" x 3.5" x 12.25"
Hi Scott,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The defining feature of this whisky is the exclusive use of sherry-seasoned oak casks from Jerez, Spain, in which to mature the whisky; this gives it a rich, dried fruit character tinged with the spice of cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger and a deep natural color.
It's considered a benchmark "Sherried" scotch and is richer and more dessert-like than some other whiskies, including other ones made in Speyside, a famous whiskey region in Scotland.
It's often compared to other Macallan 12-year olds like the double and triple cask ones but the sherry oak is considered the most intense and traditional.
The packaging and branding of this bottle correspond to bottling done in the 1980s and other unopened bottles from this period typically retail for about $1,900-2,000. Those retail prices are typically higher than the fair-market ones realized at auction, where prices are usually in the $800-1,200 range.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto.
