The appraised work appears to be a lithograph titled “Le Songe” after an original composition by Russian-French artist Marc Chagall (1887-1985), printed by Atelier Mourlot, a printing studio who often collaborated with the artist as well as other 20th century masters including Picasso, Matisse and Miró among others. The print features two lovers and is rendered in his characteristic whimsical, poetic style. The estimate provided is based on comparables recently offered and sold at auction. The appraised work's size, composition, medium and condition (based on images provided), as well as the artist's current auction market were taken into consideration when determining the estimate. In many cases, pricing for similar examples available on the primary (retail) market vary, and are often higher than secondary (auction) market examples.
