Hi, My family has had this Marc Chagall piece for a while (I believe it’s a lithograph), my father received it from a friend a while back. I’ve done a lot of research, but can’t seem to find out any information about it. The paper it’s on seems very old/delicate- it seems to depict men carrying the tables down Mt. Sinai. Any information you can provide would be much appreciated! Thanks!
Not sure. My family has had it for 30+ years. Was given to us by a family friend.
Dear Reed,
Thank you for your request. Sadly I can't find the motif of this lithograph and need some time to research it. I ask you for some more time and apologies for the delay in the appraisal.
With kind regards,
Georg
Dear Reed,
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
The presented object appears to be a partially hand-colored lithograph on paper with unknown measurements. This print was made after Marc Chagall (1887-1985), has the title "Ten Commandments" and is signed in the plate. The original artwork is an etching, is numbered and hand signed, comes from Chagall's Bible Series and is depicting the Israelites crossing the Jordan river carrying the Ark of the Covenant.
This piece is in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation would be between 50 to 100 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
