Hi Holly,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
These are bottles from the Marilyn Merlot wine series, a collectible Napa Valley wine label known for featuring different iconic images of Marilyn Monroe on each vintage's label. The specific vintages shown include:
First bottle (left): "Norma Jean" Merlot (2001 vintage). Second bottle: Featuring a photo from 1953 (2002 vintage). Third bottle: Features a photo taken by Milton Greene in 1953 (1996 vintage). Fourth bottle: Features a photo from 1956 (2003 vintahge). Fifth bottle: Features a photo taken in 1951 (2004 vintage). Sixth bottle (right): Featuring a photo from 1958 (2006).
In 2021, O'Gallerie Auction in Portland, Oregon, sold two lots of 12 bottles each from the Marilyn series. Each lot was estimated at $600-800 and each lot realized $425. More recently eight bottles from the series were sold at Brunk Auctions, the Collection of Jean and Jim Barrow (May 20, 2023), with the group of eight finishing at $450 against an estimate of $500-700.
While each bottle can retail for high two or even low three-figures, when offered at auction, these bottles traditionally sell for between $35 and $55 at auction, warranting an estimate of $225-350 for this group of 6 bottles.
