Dear Sharon,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The American artist Mark Van Epps (? - 1990) spent his time throughout his career creating images of both natural and man-made elements. His work is a reflection of his love for nature and the environment. Mystery and tranquillity are two words that can describe best his work.
Your oil painting on board is a lovely representation of plants, depicted as if suspended by an invisible breeze. Its dimensions are 5’ x 6’ and based on photographs provided your painting appears to be in very good condition. It is also signed on the lower right.
Oil paintings by this specific artist don’t come often on the art market. However, lithographs by Epps are offered on a regular basis mainly in the US and Europe. So I have based the estimate highlighted above in red on the work's size, medium, composition, current condition, as well as the artist's current auction market of these last five years.
Best regards,
Karine
