I have a Marlin model 93 lever action repeater rifle. I believe this rifle is nickel plated, has a round barrel and takes 30-30 ammunition.
My grandfather bought this rifle on a trip to his home country in Guatemala. He was friends with a harbor master at the time, and this harbor master would confiscate illegal firearms from entering the country. This particular rifle cought my grandfathers eye, and so he purchased it and took it San Francisco. From there, he took it to Hawaii where he now lives. After a few decades of ownership, he has finally passed it down to me.
Dear Rodolfo,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a Marlin Model 93 lever action rifle with a 30-30 cal. This rifle has an nicke finish, is stamped with "Marlin/ Model 93", "Marlin Safety", and the "Marlin Firearms Co, New-Haven CT. U.S.A. Pat'D Oct. 11. 1887 April 2. 1889. Aug. 1. 1893." It is stamped with the serial number "8179" but the Marlin serial number system for the Model 93 is not usable to date the gun. The term "Marlin/ Model 93" was used between 1925 to 1935.
This rifle was offered and sold on the national and international auction market.
This piece is in medium condition and there are damage to the nickel finish visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 600 to 800 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
George
