Mary Queen of Scots painting, signed Gabriel Ferrier. It is 29β by 23β. It was originally in stretched canvas but was removed from that to be mailed. The coloration is lighter in the sides from where it was folded. Also once It was un-stretched it revealed the signature.
I ordered it on eBay from a lady in Bickerstaffe, United Kingdom. It was hanging in her grandmothers house for over 60 years but she did not know where it was from. It was stretched on a canvas but she removed the canvas and rolled it to mail it to me.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a photographic reproduction print on paper after a painting by Gabriel Ferrier (1847-1914), most likely a chromolithograph, partly painted over with oil paint and laid down on canvas. The defects in the paper are obvious. You will also notice that the signature is slightly blurred. An identical print in excellent condition with the original late 19th century frame failed to sell at auction with the pre-auction estimate listed above. We also do estimates prior to purchase.
