Hand carved in Indonesia and part of our original collection of Indonesian architectural pieces.
They’re in storage but I estimate the height to be 7’ -8’ high 4” thick and each door approximately 35” wide. I believe them to be teak
Hi Dee Ann,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The market for architectural elements is pretty hot right now, with architects and designers looking for hand-crafted and unusual pieces to work into their designs. In the right auction - one that includes not only other architectural elements but also Asian works of art - these doors could easily sell for $4,000-6,000.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A pair of antique Southeast Asian relief-carved and brass studded and mounted doors
Indonesian, mid 20th Century
Each with arched centers, the recessed panels relief-carved with thick stylized foliage and baskets, with brass studs and brass or metal pulls.
Approximately 72 to 84 inches high, 35 inches wide, 4 inches thick.
CONDITION: These doors have a lovely warm patina and appear to be in very good condition.
PROVENANCE:
$ 4,000-6,000*
