The watch was owned by my great great grandfather William McPherson who came from Scotland to the United States in 1870. My grandfather, Dr. Walter E McPherson MD, was the president and dean of the Loma Linda university school medicine and has a professorial chair named after him along with several buildings on campus. I received the watch from my grandfather. It has been in the McPherson family since 1865. It is silver and is still functioning.
