What does this mean?

Dear Jill,

Thank you for this other appraisal inquiry.

This is a painting depicting three figures with goats. It measures with frame: 29" x 23" and without frame 25 1/4" x 19 1/4. It is signed on the top left "Santo". The condition is excellent.

Unfortunately, after searching this artist, I am sorry to say that I could not find any similar artist's signature in our records. It seems to me that an obscure artist has executed the painting that you own.

Therefore, this is reflected in the estimate in red that appears above. The subject work's size and composition were also taken into consideration when determining these figures.

Best regards,

Karine
