This is a postcard with Mickey Mantle's signature. Measures 6" long x 3 1/2" wide. More information on next page.
Here's all the information on it from my husband in his words: Back in the 1960s, my aunt Winona was an exec with Braniff airlines based in Houston. She handled VIP customers personally. If one of the Mercury or Apollo astronauts or someone like Cassius Clay (later Mohammad Ali) wanted to fly somewhere, they had Aunt Winona's personal phone number. I had always remembered that she told me about flying to Portugal sitting next to Mickey Mantle. We are going through a few boxes of old family photos, obituaries, school report cards and the like, and I came across this Braniff post card with Mickey Mantle's autograph on it. The post card is for Panama, so I don't know now if Winona flew to Portugal with Mickey or to Panama, but either way, it's an interesting bit of our family history.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a Braniff international postcard with the image of Kuna Yala dolls from Panama and a Mickey Mantle ballpoint pen autograph. The paper pulp apparently had a high content of cellulose fibres from wood which made the paper turn brown, there is a little loss of substance due to insects. It is a lovely family heirloom, but due to condition and the good supply of Mickey Mantle autographs in general the current market value is rather low.
