Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
It is a beautiful pearl necklace. Such vintage Mikimoto pearl necklaces are being offered at auction on a regular basis.
The design is very elegant and still modern. It is the kind of jewellery that has been fashionable for years. Mikimoto is a well known brand that stands for good quality pearls and therefore people are often happy to buy pearl necklaces from this particular brand, From the photograph the necklace appears to be in good condition which is important for the second hand price.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online jewellery auction, where I believe the necklace has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the beautiful pearl necklace. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I’m happy to help.
Thank you
Thank you for your comment.
It does make a difference in the price if the box is missing. However retail asking prices are usually much higher than auction estimates which is why the estimate is lower than what you paid for the pearl necklace and what you see on the market.
Kind regards
Hello. Thank you for your appraisal. I've seen similar Mikimoto necklaces for sale for much more. (Over $1000. Same size pearls) Why is the appraisal so low here? They are in immaculate condition & I've polished up the clasp. I paid nearly $700 for them. Is it because I don't have the box? Does it make any difference because you cannot physically examine the necklace?
