It is believed to have come from The Heffer Gallery originally and was bought by a collector who bought other items by Picasso. This item appears to be in pastel or even possibly crayon. It has been reframed in the collector's lifetime and he has had "Picasso" added on the mount. It is 70mm x 62mm - it was bought as a Picasso originally - it this something worth pursuing?
Owned by current owner's father-in-law JP Lawton QC (see obit)
Dear Steve,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. The presented object is a pastel drawing with the measurements of 70mm x 62mm. The drawing depicts the face of a young girl and is not signed. On the passe-partout, the name Picasso is mentioned. An artwork of Picasso has to be authenticated by its provenience or through a second instance like a foundation. In my opinion, this drawing is too weak in its expression and in the sureness of the line itself to be an authentic work done by Pablo Picasso. This piece in this combination of the passe-partout and the drawing has no value in the art market.
This piece is in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
With kind regards,
Georg

Hi Georg
Do you happen to know what kind of value it would have had if it had been the real thing?
Best Regards
Steve
Hi Georg
Thanks for that - and thanks for your response on the other item recommending me to make this submission.
I would be curious to know if it would have had any value if it had been authentic.
Best Regards
Steve
