My grandfather purchased this watercolor painting of a moonlit mosque while living in Iran from 1954-1960. It is in excellent condition.

Hi Taji,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This is the work of Sumbat Der Kiureghian (1913–1999), an Armenian-Iranian artist known for his atmospheric cityscapes, watercolors, and oil paintings. He often signed his work simply as "Sumbat", and the style of the signature here is consistent with his.
If this were sold in an auction of other Middle Eastern artists and Orientalist works, it would probably sell for between $1,500-2,000.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
Sumbat Der Kiureghian (Armenian Iranian, 1913–1999)
