The appraised work appears to be an oil on canvas painting featuring a stylized image of a young child, or moppet, executed by an artist named Vassini, likely active in Italy or Sicily in the 1960s and 70s. The background is abstracted and features heavy impasto strokes of pastel-like color. The painting is signed in the lower right corner. Vassini often painted clown or Pierrot characters made popular in the commedia dell’arte. It’s possible the subject of the moppet also has roots as a stock character. The estimate provided is based on comparables recently offered and sold at auction. In many cases, pricing for similar examples available on the primary (retail) market vary and are often higher than secondary (auction) market examples.
I would not mind owning this painting. Unique.
