I'd like to know the maker (Hallmark) of this set and it's value
None. Purchased at Flea Market
Hi Ruth,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This is an American set from the use of the word STERLING on the mount (British and other European silversmiths used hallmarks); I've not been able to identify the monogram (H&N?) in my silver books.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An American sterling silver and mother of pearl fish service for 6
Unidentified maker, late 19th Century
In a fitted case, comprising 6 knives and 6 forks, the blades with unidentified maker's monogram H&N, sterling silver cuff mounts and mother-of-pearl handles.
Fitted case 2 inches tall by 12 1/2 inches wide by 8 1/2 inches deep
CONDITION: appears to be in excellent condition
PROVENANCE: acquired at a flea market
$200-300*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you again for using Mearto.
Thanks, Ruth, you're all set!
Thank you!
The knife measures 8" long and fork 6" long. The box measures 8 1/2 wide x 12 1/2 long x 2" tall
