Pottery
My fiancé owned it. He passed away and I inherited it.
Hello Andrea,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, material and the composition, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Made Ceramic-Pottery Mugh with Nature Pattern. The piece dates to the period between 1980-2000. The piece is likely made from a composite material including a large amount of ceramic. The piece was shaped by hand, we can understand this from the rim and the irregualr shapes at various points. The handle is glazed unlike the body and it is made of ceramic material. The handle is shaped and painted as a tree branch, which was a famous design in 1990's. The patern is likely hand painted and represents the bracnhes of a pine tree. Most of the piece was left blank, it has no visible marks or signatures on it. The piece has many impressed shapes underneath it. These includes dots and a sea shell, it is a contemporary work for sure. The piece is in good condition with a single crack under the handle.
Entirely hand made.
Dimensions: Unknown.
Condition: The piece is in good condition with a single crack under the handle.
Provenance: Inherited from the current owner's Fiancé.
Decorated with a natural pattern.
30-40$.

Dear Andrea,
I’ve dated your piece to the correct time then! 1980-2000 period was my dates. The design was alike 1990’s patterns, I didn’t date the piece to the 1990’s. I’ll take into consideration the new information you provided and will update if necessary. Do you remember the name of the pottery maker? Kind regards. Thanks.
I can ask my cousin as I have it as a gift. I found an article about him.
Ken Edwards El Palomar Tonala pottery..
Dear Andrea,
Based on my research your piece's style and production technique is significantly different both decorationally and shapewise from the works of Kend Edwards. Therefore this piece does not belong to the artist. Thank you.
We owned it in 1982, as my fiancé died in 1985. So it is older than the 90’s. Steve did travel to Puerto Vallarta before I met him and we had a platter made by a well known pottery maker there so I’m wondering if it was from there perhaps?
