Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
It is a lovely pearl necklace. Such vintage pearl necklaces are being offered at auction on a regular basis. The design and the colours of the pearls is lovely. It was made in the late 1900s. The lock is made of sterling silver and the various shapes and colours of the pearls adds a nice touch to the necklace. It is not the most expensive pearls used for the necklace, they look like freshwater pearls, and the fact that they are set in sterling silver instead of eg gold determines the value of the necklace. It is a lovely piece of bijouterie jewellery that you often see offered for sale at antique markets.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online jewellery auction, where I believe the necklace has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the pearl necklace. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I’m happy to help.
