Hi Richard,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Many Murano chandeliers are so "over the top" with festoons, baubles and other detail and trim that they can be an assault to the eyes if you will; this example has a restrained lushness that is in many ways as much - if not more - appealing than the fussier chandeliers on the market.
Most multi-light Murano chandeliers retail for much higher prices than they bring at auction, the latter of which are the prices Mearto uses in our appraisals. I've found comparable examples to yours selling for $400-1,200, with ones with 24K gold bringing the higher amounts.; for the purpose of this appraisal, I've valued yours at AUD$800-1,200.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Murano hand-blown six-light chandelier
made in Italy, probably mid/late 20th Century
Surmounted by a stylized basket with pointed rim and "woven" body over a woven globe, the center issuing 10 tall blooms with latticino stems, six drooping blooms with latticino stems and six drooping latticino arms ending in large foliate shades. Unsigned.
90 by 85 cm
CONDITION: This chandelier appears to be in good condition; value assumes it is in working condition without losses, breaks or repairs.
