Approx 5 ft long
It was my grandfather's never exhibited
Dear Scott,
Thank you for the additional images and my sincere apologies for the delay with the apprisal.
The presented object appears to be a percussion lock rifle with a length of 5 feet. It has no hallmarks or proof marks and is decorated with simple brass inlay work. It was probably made in the first half of the 19th century in North America. There is a possibility that an older flintlock rifle of the late 18th century was modernized with a modern percussion lock.
This piece is in medium condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 150 to 400 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
