Musser Marimba #739 in excellent condition. It has rosewood keys and frame on wheels.
Hi Mike,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Musser marimbas are highly respected percussion instruments known for their craftsmanship, rich tone, and use in both professional and educational settings.
This looks like a 4-octave example in a concert- or professional-grade setup.
While I can find refurbished 4-octave vintage Musser marimbas online for between $2,500 and $3,000, when these are offered at auction, they usually don't sell for quite that much, typically between $1,500 and $2,500.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Musser M250 4-octave Concert Grand Marimba
late 1950s
On a rosewood frame, with wheels, marked "739."
(Height, width, depth)
CONDITION: This appears to be in good condition; value assumes this has good musicality and is still in tune.
PROVENANCE: Inherited; acquired by the family in Berkeley, CA, in 1958
$1,500-2,500*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto.

Hi Delia,
The only number that I could find was "439" stamped under the Musser label. I believe my Dad purchased it in Berkeley Ca. in 1958 for around $1000. I will send the pictures to the support email.
Thank you for your time!
