The gun was in service during the civil war. It has two separate barrels and all the stuff for making bullets for both barrels. It is a sniper rifle and is missing the scope that was on it. It was shot by president Lincoln during the war during target practice two miles outside of Washington DC
The original owner was Sanford H Bascom, it was acquired by the Collins Clock Museum and in 1963 it was purchased by Mrs George Holt of west Lebanon Then my grandfather purchased it.
Dear William,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. So that I may best assist you, can you please upload detailed and focused images of all hallmarks, numbers, and stamps on the metal parts of the weapon? Thank you for your help.
With kind regards,
George
Dear William,
Thank you for your help and email. Sadly I have to research a bit more and compare other rifles in different aspects with your rifle to localizing, dating, and appraising it. I aks you for understanding and patience that this needs a bit more time.
With kind regards,
George
George, I can take more pictures but the non of the metal parts have any identification marks on them.
