Small painting done in watercolor on cotton paper. 1900s
Purchase from antique shop
Dear Clarence,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be an ink drawing on paper with unknown measurements. The drawing depicts a church surrounded by trees. In the right lower corner we see the signature "Kurtz". This drawing is not comparable in the style of the depiction and the signature with listed and known artists with the same last name. That means that this artwork was not made by known and in auctions sold artist. The weak perspective of the architecture is a hint that this piece was made by a not academical trained artist. This artwork was made around 1900 or shortly later.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 25 to 50 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
