Good morning, Shari,
I was able to speak to two people over the weekend who are knowledgeable about both Native American and Mexican jewelry and both agreed your necklace is Mexican. The maker TP is not one either knew of but both agree with my assessment on age (mid 20th Century) and value ($300-500).
As to finding out the maker's identity, this is an area of jewelry scholarship that hasn't been well researched or documented so at this time, there's not much to say about them. It's possible they were a short-lived silversmith or jeweler, with a limited body of pieces produced, that have not become widespread on the market.
As far as additional research is concerned, I've done all I can so wanted to complete this appraisal for you. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know in a comment or email via [email protected].
Have a great day,
Delia
Hi Shari,
The person I showed this to over the weekend agreed with my assessment that this wasn't Native American but also had not seen the mark. I'm reaching out to two other people I know who may have an idea about the mark, so while there's no additional information at the moment, I didn't want to let this go without touching base first.
If you see a comment box below this message, you're welcome to leave me a comment, which will reach me faster than if you go through customer service ([email protected]).
Have a great day, and more soon,
Delia
