I have nearly two kilograms of loose stone polished by pure natural amber, including insects amber, blue, black and red. I received these treasures from my grandfather when he passed. It has been four years, and I want to know its value.

Thank you for contacting Mearto. This is a very nice collection of amber stones. Amber prices vary a lot. The guidelines are: clear is more valuable than cloudy, polished or shaped is more valuable than raw, and inclusions (insects or other organic material) are the most valuable. The size of the stone also raises the value. Here are the calculations I came up with:
1 kg of normal amber $200-$300
Blue amber is very rare and valuable: $600 per kg
Black amber is not very expensive
Red is similar to normal amber
Inclusions
$20-$100 per piece
From your pictures, I can’t tell precisely the weight of the blue amber, of course, but hopefully this guide will help you determine the total value. I am going to put my Fair Market Value estimate at $700 to $800, but keep in mind the range of prices these bring, especially inclusions.
