7/8 inch diameter, 1/4 inch band, silver ring with a skull, swastika and other ww2 Nazi symbols. The ring is engraved with " H.Himmler" and "Wolff 24.Xll.33"
I was informed that it was taken off a dead Nazi Officer along with his swastika arm band. Given to my father in trade and passed to me as a gift.
Dear Aaron,
Thank you for your help and patience.
The presented object appears to be an SS-Ehrenring (i.e. "SS Honour Ring", unofficially called Totenkopfring (i.e. "Skull Ring") with the measurements of 7/8 inch diameter and 1/4 inch of the ring band. In its measurements and in its design this ring equates to the SS-Ehrenring which was an award of Heinrich Himmler's Schutzstaffel also know as SS. regarding the design and the symbolism I attach this link (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS-Ehrenring).
This ring is engraved on the inside with the name H. Himmler and with the name "Wolff" and the date "24.XII.33".
The main problem with this SS-Ehrenring is that there are numerous fakes of sometimes very good quality on the market and argumentation with the archival connection to the name Wolff and the date 24.12.1933 could be a convincing argument for a potential buyer. The surface of this ring appears not rubbed down while wearing the ring which could be an argument that this piece is a modern replica. On the other side, the engravings on the inside appear correct in typography a traces or wearing. Another problem with this ring is that it was produced by numerous different manufacturers and all these versions have stylistically small differences.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 3.500 to 7.000 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
Because of the named difficulties with this rare and often faked ring and the high potential value, this piece requires further authentication research. This estimate is provided on the condition of authenticity.
With kind regards,
George
Hello Aaron,
Thank you for your help. Is it possible to photograph all signs and runes which are shown on the ring beside the skull sign? Thank you very much.
With kind regards,
George
Hello, I have added some new photos for review. To note: The backwards "N" in a triangle appears twice on the ring. One on both sides of the main "Skull" rune. I hope these can help identify this ring.
Thank you,
Aaron
Hello π I have looked for the requested information and cannot find a discernable hallmark. The best I can comment to that is I took it to a jewelers who considered it to be silver.
I can provide better pictures and would consider sending the item for better review if either may help.
Thank you for your time and assistance,
Aaron
